How do I host my video?
Once you have your video how can you host it? There are three simple and inexpensive ways:
  1. youtubeUse YouTube to host your video and embed it in your web page.

See an example [here]. This has both advantages and some disadvantages.

    Advantages:
    A) It's totally free at the moment, you pay no bandwidth fees no matter how many people view it.
    B) The "player" is also free and is easily added to any page you like. You Tube even create the code to do this for you and allow you to specify both the size and style of the player.
    Disadvantages:
    A) Folks get to see the YouTube logo in the corner of the video (not a bad swap for the free band-width). You may not care or you may have other You Tube videos that you would like folks to see.
    Summary:
Cheap and cheerful. Perfectly acceptable in most cases.

  2. Use your own website

    Advantages:
    A) It's free provided you have no bandwidth restrictions.
    Disadvantages:
    A) You may not get adequate performance form your web-server, causing the dreaded spinning wait circle.
    B) You have to purchase a licence to a player (about $30) and add it to your website (requires some programming knowledge).
    Summary:
Adequate solution. Not suitable for high volume sites or if you use an underpowered or hosted server.

  3. real cool tvUse our private network to host the video.

    See an example [here].

    Advantages:
    A) Super high performance, globally distributed. Ideal for corporate videos or private videos.
    B) The "player" is free and is easily added to any page you like.
    Disadvantages:
    A) You have to "pay as you go" for bandwidth (normally less than $20 per month, on average). If your corporate video is very popular then this could go higher.
    Summary:
High quality solution, ideal for corporate and other videos where branding is everything.
